What members pushedWhere it landed
01 Keep hemodialysis, access surgery, and key transplant medicines on the SHA benefit list. Cover stayed in place for people already on dialysis.
02 Name chronic kidney disease in the national NCD plan, not only as a footnote to diabetes. County screening can point at kidney disease directly.
03 A patient seat on the Kenya CKD guideline review: consent, real Kenyan meals, mental health. December 2025 workshop with the Ministry of Health and the Kenya Renal Association.

A proposed renal fund figure discussed in the 2025 briefings was KSh 9.5 billion, covering all 47 counties. The society does not run that fund. Members keep asking for it in public.

A renal diagnosis is not the last chapter. Screening, a clinic that answers, and other patients in the room change what the next year looks like.
